Fly Fishing 101 — Get on the Water with Confidence

In this focused three-hour course you’ll learn the essential skills to start fly fishing immediately. Taught by experienced instructors, the class combines hands-on casting practice with a short classroom session so you leave prepared and confident.

What you’ll learn

  • Basic pick-up and lay-down cast

  • Single haul and shooting line

  • Proper casting form and rod/line handling

  • Basic casting accuracy drills

  • Anatomy of a fly rod and fly line

  • Need-to-know fishing knots

  • Fly types and when to use each

Class format

  • Two casting sessions with a classroom session in between for technique refinement and Q&A.

Gear

  • All gear is provided — just show up. If you already own a rod, please bring it for personalized setup and feedback.
